I got a tattoo!!!

OMG!! I really did it!

And now, I have some feelings about it that I think you’ll want to hear.

Let me start by saying I am not a tattoo person and honestly, it has been one of those cultural mismatch things I have never quite gotten used to after moving to Australia 17 years ago.

Why do Aussies love tattoos so much?

Anyway, my besties (the Hot Mums) and I decided we want to get a matching tattoo to celebrate our wonderful sisterhood.

And I thought, if there’s ever a reason to ink my body permanently it is because I love my gals!!

So, last week, while all of us were in New Zealand together, we booked it in and we got inked!

My only request was that I don’t want a black tattoo, because I figured (in my vast experience of tattoos and skin colours) black ink would look gross on my skin.

I wanted brown ink instead.

And when it was my turn to get inked, I let the tattoo artist talk me out of brown and into red instead.

I thought “mmm, maybe she’s right…brown will look like a mole and red might be nice”.

I was wrong!

My tiny little red heart tattoo looks like a fresh, inflamed scar.

(no, I’m not going to show you)

I’m really, really hoping that once it’s fully healed it will be a cute little red heart…

A reminder of how much I love my friends!

Not a reminder that taking a needle, filling it with ink and continuously stabbing yourself with said needle until you have a permanent mark on your arm is a bad life choice.

Oh well, at least it makes for a good story, right!!

And maybe my kids will learn from my mistake (actually, I can probably put money on it that they won’t).
